The letters in a word are significant
Some words have four while others have three
Well I should understand how they’re different
I was the regional champion of the spelling bee

When I spell ‘love’ I never use an ‘O’
Just L-U-V, I never end in an ‘E’
Why in the word would I ever use four
Letters when I only ever need three

Some people spell ‘love’ with an ‘O’
Well I’m a pretty good speller too
I never spell ‘love’ with an ‘O’ (oh no)
I spell ‘love’ with ‘U’

L-U-V looks right to me even
Even though you won’t find it in the dictionary
It’s a very nice thought that ‘U’ would be
Inside of a word suggesting intimacy

When I spell ‘love’ three letters wide
The ‘L’ reminds me of my left arm
And ‘V’ is like my arm on the other side
When they wrap all around ‘U’ to keep ‘U’ warm
